With media alerts and global concerns over the plight of the honeybee, many folks are considering adding a hive or two to their backyard. What kind of equipment is involved? How much time is needed? How can those of us who want to support the honeybees in our yards be a part of protecting our pollinators? Join Frerichs Farm Beekeeper Jennifer Bristol and special guests for an entertaining and informative session on what it takes (and means) to “Be a Keeper”.

BEE Conscious
Making a Pollinator Friendly Garden Wherever You Grow

Want to bring more butterflies, bees and pollen happy critters to your garden this year?  Join Barbara Frerich for a Pollinator Plants 101 and take a tour of the greenhouses for a look at what plants will create a buzz in your garden.

Stay tuned for a firm time and 101 on the arrival and installation of Frerichs new honeybee hives. Feeling curious AND brave? Pull up a chair and watch Frerichs Farm Beekeeper Jennifer Bristol and expert Beekeeper Ed Karle as they introduce two “boxes of bees” to their new digs.


Get Your Goat

Frerichs Farm welcomes the 4-H Home Insteaders and their new Goat Herd for a workshop on the ins and outs (ups and downs) of living with and loving goats. This session is suitable for kids ages 0-100.


Hive Mentality

We will be scheduling regular hive checks throughout the season.  Pull up a chair and watch the beekeeper at work, ask questions and dare to take a closer look at the inner workings of the honeybee hive. Keep tuned in to the Buzz at Frerichs Farm this season!


More About Jennifer Bristol
Jennifer Bristol lives in Bristol, RI; she works as Director of Programs and Partnerships for the Institute for Mindful Leadership.  In her “spare” time, she is a 4-H leader, volunteering in bringing educational and community programming to children ages 5-17 in a range of topics including Food and Nutrition, Raising Livestock and (you guessed it!) Beekeeping. While she still considers herself a novice keeper, her enthusiasm and dedication to supporting Honeybee Health is contagious. Jennifer will be attending our hives regularly- look for the “Beekeeper is IN” sign and visit our hives soon.
